Lips and Boys

There are two gay men who I genuinely wish I could turn straight or be best friends with, Anderson Cooper and Tom Ford. Anderson Cooper is a whole other blog, but my love for Tom Ford is a little borderline obsessive, not gonna lie. When Jay Z sang (rapped??) “I don’t pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford,” I died a little inside like “meeeeeeee too Jay!” It’s always a good day when I have something in common with Jay Z…..just one step closer to Beyonce that way.

I digress, but the point is that everything Tom Ford is amazing and that includes his makeup line. Recently, TF released 25 new colors in his already limited edition lipstick line “Lips And Boys.” Let me just tell you why I am obsessed:

1. All the colors are amazing

2. The price is $35, which for Tom Ford is generally low

3. The lipstick formula adapts to each person’s natural lip pigment and looks amazingly different on each person’s skin tone.

4. There are 50 colors so there is definitely a color for everyone. The Tom Ford website, displays the colors on actual models so you can see how it looks on certain skin tones. Like I said, they all show up differently on different people and seem pretty adaptable to different tones.

For my fashion shoot last week, I wore this lipstick in “Roman.” I know I have used the word obsessed multiple times already in this blog, but that is true once again to how I feel about this color. It looks a little scary in the tube (basically it looks black), but it comes out with the most beautiful purple undertones that really make light eyes pop. As I said, the lipstick formula adapts to your lip undertones. I personally have a lot of pink in my lips so I think that brought out more color in this lip. The girl who sold me the lipstick said it looks a lot darker on her, probably like the model on the Tom Ford site. I think this color is hands down a must have for fair skin. I also think it could be great on darker skin and I would recommend playing up the metallic aspect with silver and pewter tones on eyes.

For me, since I have fair skin, I decided to pull away from my typical browns and bronze eye colors and play up the icy cool tones by using grey, white and black on my eyes. Like I said, this dark lip made the blue in my eyes really pop, so I just made that even stronger with grey shadow and black liner which have the same effect on a blue eye. I stuck to bronzer and highlighter on my cheeks and no blush to keep the look high fashion vrs. beauty pageant.

For those of you with darker eyes or skin tones, I still think this color would look amazing. The color seems to show up darkest on super porcelain skin.

Other colors I’m loving are are Wes, Henry, Egon & Eric.
