Must Have Fall & Winter Lip Colors

The CMA’s were in Nashville last week and for those of you who don’t know that is pretty much like the Oscar’s of Country Music. Also for those of you who don’t know, I am a hair and makeup artist here in Nashville, so it was a busy week work wise. My actual CMA day consisted of Good Morning America with CMA Award Winning (shameless plug) Dierks Bentley, followed by a nap and then the award show that night again with Dierks. 🙂 Needless to say, Dierks does not wear lipstick (thankfully), but I did notice lots of lovely ladies rocking some pretty amazing fall lips not the red carpet. Here are the trends I am loving for fall and winter, plus some links on where to find them!

    1. Dark Vampy Lips :

50th-annual-cma-awards-kelsea-ballerini-1478134158This was by far the look I saw the most of at the CMA Awards red carpet. No matter what, a dark vampy lip just says colder months to me. I personally look forward to it every year because it is genuinely one of my favorite looks and it looks so great on every skin tone. To keep this look high fashion and not gothic, pair your dark lip with little or no eye makeup, a little bronzer and naturally filled in eyebrows. Here are some of my favorite picks, click the color name to shop

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Blackmail

NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Volga

BITE Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Rouge Berry

2. Hints of 90’s Hues:

I always imagine a mix of ‘My So-Called Life’ and ‘Friends.’ Anything in the nude to dark brown range. Kylie Jenner has been pulling a few of these looks for awhile now. I’m a fan and think it’s great for fall.

Here are some of my faves to recreate the look:

For Light Nude: Dose of Color Liquid Lips in Sand

For Medium Dusty Rose Shade: MAC Lipstick in Whirl & NYX Liquid Suede Lips in Soft Spoken

For Dark Brown: Lime Crime Velvetines in Salem (Obsessed with this)

3. Creamy Lips: sailor-shirtDon’t get me wrong, I still love matte lips. Last season they were my absolute fave and they certainly will still be in my lip color rotation, however, for fall and definitely for the colder winter months, I am really loving the moisture of a creamy lipstick. MAC just came out with a line called Liptensity that is being marketed for it’s vibrant colors, which are amazing. I also love these colors because they have the creamiest finish that doesn’t dry out my lips. I don’t use any sort of gloss or moisturizer with them, just the lipstick. My favorite colors are Driftwood, Doe, Marsala and Double Fudge! The pic above is MAC Liptensity in Marsala. Find them all here.

**Driftwood and Doe are nude for those of you who don’t like color on your lips
