VE Travel: Fun & Easy Bachelorette Trip

I was recently tasked with planning a bachelorette party for one of my dearest friends. Going on a trip with a bunch of girls can be THE WORST, however all my friends are badasses so we had a blast. We live in Nashville, one of the countries top bachelorette destinations, so we wanted to do something a little different without having to spend tons of time and money. Louisville is a quick two hour drive and a surprisingly fun and quant little city. Even if Louisville isn’t a close trip for you, this Bachelorette road trip could be easily re-created in many cities. Here is what we did:

Stay: The Highlands

Take full advantage of Airbnb in the Highlands neighborhood. The historic homes have so much character and charm. Our stylish house (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5091823) was perfect for 8 and located just down the street from Bardstown Road with great vintage shops, restaurants and most importantly, coffee.

PLEASE eat brunch at Gralehaus http://gralehaus.com

Eat: Fall Squash Crepe with duck confit. Seriously.

Drink: Intelligentstia coffee and a beermosa.

Why I love it: This cozy café sits in the first level of a Victorian home, with an outdoor biegarten, connecting it to the Holy Grale, an awesome burger bar. The food is fresh, made from scratch, and the menu changes seasonally.

You can’t walk Bardstown road without shopping.

 The Nitty Gritty http://nittygrittyvintage.com

Go for: Costume rentals and vintage clothing

Why I love it: They carry a wide array of styles from every era, and a bunch of bizarre shit… like a rabbit headdress… Want to dress like a turkey for Thanksgiving? They probably have a costume for that. Have an ugly Christmas sweater party coming up? This is your spot.

Leatherhead http://www.theleatherhead.com/index.html

Go for: New and used leather goods, including Frye boots, western hats, bags and pearl snap shirts.

Why I love it: They have a leather workshop connected to the store for any custom needs and their “Leatherhead hall of fame” features a photo of Orlando Bloom. I’ll shop anywhere Orlando does.

For a special occasion (bachelorette, birthday, date night, etc.)

Go to dinner at RYE (http://ryeonmarket.com) for a trendy farm-to-table experience. It is in the NuLu area, which is a quick Uber ride from the Highlands.

Then head back to Bardstown for the best karaoke Kentucky has to offer at Akikos (http://www.yelp.com/biz/akikos-louisville) . Cheap beers, tequila shots, pool tables, and plenty of Beyonce songs to choose from. We spent two nights in a row there. No photos allowed 🙂

We ended the night with a drunk-girl photo booth I set up in our Airbnb. Here’s a glimpse.. I’m saving the rest for blackmail.
