It has been a serious minute since we updated velvetsedge.com with new content. Call it burnout or Covid confusion, but 2020 proved to be quite the trying time for the entire VE team. However, the truth is that we miss you guys. As life begins to normalize a bit and the world opens back up, we want to connect and collaborate and grow with all of you and share some of the things we are learning and have learned the last year ourselves.
For me personally (Kelly), astrology has become something that I explore a lot and really enjoy learning about. I have heard some people call this “whoo-whoo” or roll their eyes at the thought and trust me, I get it. I honestly used to feel the same way. However, the more that I have learned, my perspective has completely changed. As (what I self call) a “seeker,” learning about the energies happening in the universe and the energies within my own makeup, have opened up a whole new world of growth, abundance, peace, and understanding. One of my greatest teachers has become, Master Astrologer, Marvin Wilkerson. ‘Marv’ and I do a monthly podcast on The Velvet side of The Velvet’s Edge Podcast about the new moon and what each different new moon is bringing energy-wise. I know, I know, it’s all a lot to digest, but just start small and learn something new each time. I think the key to all of this stuff is to keep showing up and staying curious. Take what you like and leave the rest.
This week, Marv was a guest on the podcast to discuss the Gemini New Moon and how that can look in each person’s life. He broke down the next month’s energy for each sign and also discussed Mercury in Retrograde that is happening right now and the upcoming solar eclipse. Lots happening right now obviously! This current Mercury Retrograde consists of miscommunication, technology, financial mishaps, etc. So with that being said, this new moon in Gemini brings communication even more to the forefront and what we are trying to balance internally as well as within our relationship with others and the world.
Gemini often represents the conflict between the ego and the shadow in the personality. With the dual nature, Gemini can be known to have split personalities until Gemini’s have integrated their dual nature to become single-minded and focused. The ego strives to take a conscious path, our thoughts, and perceptions conditioned by our will and others’ values. The shadow is the repressed self which must deal with projected personalities that creep into the Gemini which becomes changeable and inconsistent. Shadow meaning suppressed sense of ourselves and also a repressed sense of who we are. These are things we typically don’t want people to see about us but these things come out in external relationships. We know what we are all hiding, maybe not consciously but it is there. We must all learn to love and accept ourselves in order to thrive. All relationships represent the repressed material of our subconscious mind, For example, loving others is loving yourself!
Healing comes from balance – balancing the struggle of conflict and polarization. This is the opportunity to focus on truth! We are all one and all energetically connected!
We cannot truly love another person if we do not love ourselves.

God is infinite Love, the great identity in all relationships, the eternal essence of all forms, and this Absolute All –that-Is is my very divine consciousness.
I lift up my mind and heart to be aware, to understand, and to know that the divine Presence I AM is the source, Cause, and quality of every relationship in my life.
I am conscious of the Inner Presence as my loving experience of fulfillment, as the harmony in every connection with another being. I am conscious of the constant activity of this mind of total goodwill and joyful unity, therefore my consciousness is felled with the Love of right relations.
Through my consciousness of my God –Self as my source of companionship, friendship, and the quality of every Love experience, I draw into my mind and feeling nature the Light of Spirit. This light is the essence of every bonding with another, thus my consciousness of the Master Self I AM is the cause of every good and perfect relationship.
My inner Light draws to me now those with whom I can relate in love, peace, and joy. Because it is the principle of right relations in action, my desires are beautifully fulfilled, my needs easily met.
The divine consciousness I AM is forever securing the bond of harmlessness and harmony between me and everyone else in my world. Therefore I am totally confident to let God appear in each and every relationship in my life.
When I am aware of my divine consciousness as my total fulfillment, I am totally fulfilled. I am now aware of this truth, and I relax in the knowledge that the activity of divine attraction and right relations is eternally operating in my life. I simply have to be aware of the flow of that creative energy that is continuously radiating from within. I am now in the flow.

Rhodochrosite – this crystal promotes being kind to yourself and understanding that in order to give unconditional love to others, you also need to give it to yourself.
Moonstone – this crystal inhibits the ability to accept and embrace change and works with your inner vision and perception to guide you forward.
Celestite – this crystal helps release yourself from a mental assault course of the ‘what ifs and find a creative solution.
Shungite – this crystal guides the release of emotional debris.
