My New Home Updates: Living Room

I am so happy with the updates I have recently made to my condo in Nashville. I have lived in the same place for over 5 years now and just needed a little refresh. I called on my resources via my friend, Brittney Forrister, who works in interiors and is such a creative, cool spirit.

To keep this easy to read and not overwhelming, I’ve divided these home update post into multiple parts: Part 1, will be living room. Followed by kitchen, mood board, bedroom and personalized wall paper! I was amazed to see how much small changes can completely change the feel of a room. We kept most of my furniture in the living room the same and just changed out pillows on my couch for a little hint of a new color palette. The collage wall was something I already had in place, so we just kept it. My art is from a mix of random Etsy shops and also Society 6, which is awesome, affordable and the pics come framed! Find them here.

The other major change we made was a new rug. It is AMAZING to me how much a different rug can change the feel of the room. Rugs can be pricey, so make sure to check the sales at your favorite interior stores regularly! This one was found by Brittney at Restoration Hardware on clearance! I think it was literally 75% off and I love it so much. Find a similar one here. Shop all Restoration sale rugs here.

I love the simplicity of my marble coffee table. It allows me to change out the colors and things on top frequently as my taste changes. I’ve had this one for a few years and it was well worth the small investment. I feel like I will keep it for a very, very long time. I also love this pillow pouf. My exact one is from Target and sold out, but I linked some similar ones! Just click pics to shop.
If you look closely, to the right, you can see that my curtains are raised all the way to the ceiling. This really made my living room feel SO much bigger and really opened it up. My ceilings are tall, so I ordered extra long curtains from IKEA. They were inexpensive and look so elegant and grand. Find curtains here.

I am also obsessed with the curtain rods Britt found, which is honestly not anything I ever thought I would be obsessed with. They just look very cool and industrial. Click pic to shop.

Genuinely, one of the best things I learned about in this process me was a company called TAKL. It’s basically a handyman app. Whatever you need around the house- hanging curtains, hanging art, cleaning, hauling things. I would have never been able to get my curtains that high on my own or hang anything really. It is so convenient and easy. You can download the app in the APP store on iPhone or find them here.

Something I loved about what Brittney did was really personalize my place. She did this a lot with random books around my living room. Things that are related to me in some way, weather it’s dating or country music or just motivation to be a strong women. It really makes my place feel so me. She found most of my books at Goodwill, but Etsy is also a great place to search for books with some meaning to you. My personal favorites that she found for me are “Strong is the New Sexy” and “Dating is Murder.” hahahaha.

I also have tons of my favorite candles in each room to make everything feel cozy and like home. My favorite candles are from a local Nashville company called Nella Moon. ‘Nashville’ and ‘Sea Salt and Jasmine’ are my current favorites. Find them here.

Stay tuned for the rest of my home update over the next two weeks!
