In the News: Shit You Should Know

Good morning, friends. I’ve had one of those weeks where every day feels like Monday… I go to bed wondering what new horror awaits me in the morning. I’ll spare you the details but hopefully your week is going better than mine.

And it probably is unless you have to work in an office on the regular… I haven’t even put on pants today. Ask my neighbors!

Anyway, if you do have to wear pants every day here’s something to make your life easier. Online retailer MM LaFleur ships simple, quality women’s work clothes to your door. Keep what you like and send the rest back. It’s not a subscription service—so just request a new box when you need new items. This would also be a great gift for the new graduate who thinks bandage dresses with a blazer are work appropriate.

The UK voted to leave the European Union this week. After the results were revealed, many voters were surprised to discover that the UK will, in fact, now leave the European Union. This is an embarrassing debacle, and frankly, I’m just relieved that everyone’s laughing at another country’s political process for a change.

The 6th season of Game of Thrones ended Sunday night and it was good. Like sipping rosé on a pontoon boat good. SPOILERS: Jon Snow’s parentage was revealed, and dude is royal AF. But possibly still a bastard. Also Cersei blew up that greasy zealot and his unwashed flock of monks and ascended the Iron Throne. It was satisfying, you guys. If you’ve never watched this show I don’t know how you’re functioning in society. What do you even talk about?

A terrorist attack on an airport in Turkey left 41 killed and several hundred injured. I don’t have the emotional capacity to discuss this any further until the victims’ names come out. It’s overwhelming and heartbreaking.

What I hate this week: Pat Summitt died yesterday after a 5 year battle with early onset Alzheimer’s. I had two heroes as a little girl. One of them was Pat Summitt. (The other one is Dolly Parton so both of my childhood heroes are popular with old people and lesbians. This can only say great things about me.)

I grew up going to Lady Vols’ games and, true story, read all of Summitt’s books as a middle schooler. She’s a coaching legend and a remarkable human being, but most importantly, she was a role model for little girls with dreams of playing sports at a higher level.

What I love this week: Our long nightmare is over and this coming Friday, Tennesseans can buy wine in grocery stores. How many bottles of wine do you think can fit in a shopping cart? Dunno but I’m about to find out.

Supposedly grocery stores are a good place to meet men but 10 bottles of wine and a box of Raisin Bran doesn’t exactly scream marriage material. Shrug. Gotta live an authentic life.

Happy birthday America! Try not to blow any fingers off this weekend.

See you next week.
Lori
