A whole new world!

A new fantastic point of view. Yes the title and first sentence are straight off the Aladdin soundtrack. Ha. Who am I?

The last time you heard from me I was trying to look cute in my photos, while also having to explain how much I was struggling in my pregnancy. Well the birth wasn’t much better than the pregnancy. Turns out I had pre-eclampsia and Everly was taken out six weeks early. After many struggles, she is doing great, but my pregnancy rages on. Yes you heard that right. Pregnancy is still effecting my life… in the form of kidney stones. I developed kidney stones from my pregnancy. It was the screaming and crawling around on the floor from the pain kind of kidney stones. Has anyone ever had one? It makes everything written above seem like a day at the spa. And I can’t even think about having them as a man. Hell. No.

Soooooo, I’m a mom now. Yes the girl who burns pop-tarts is a mom now. And I officially understand what I’ve been told for years by my mom friends.

“It’s so hard.” YES IT IS. “Your heart will explode with love.” YES IT DID. “You will cry at first.” UM, YES that’s also true. “You might not have time to brush your teeth.” YEP. “You will never sleep again.” KILL ME NOW. “You will have to re-prioritize some things.” YES AND THIS IS THE HARDEST FOR ME and one of the reasons I’m writing this post.

As some of you might know, Kelly and I started VE a few years ago and it’s been such an impactful part of my life. VE actually helped me get through pregnancy, as many of you reached out on instagram and on the blog to tell me your experiences. Truly, thank you for caring. As much as I love VE, it’s one of the many things I am having to shuffle around. My highest priority is Everly, my husband Ford and even extended family and friends. Spending time with these people makes me the most happy and is my main priority. And for those of you that know me, you know that outside of pouring my soul into VE, I also have an interior design business. Design is my passion. It’s the main reason I started blogging in the first place. So I have decided to put 100% of my focus into the people mentioned above, especially Everly, and my design firm.

Oh, and I’m crying now. I  was trying to make it trough this post without crying, but I should’ve known better. Now, this doesn’t mean you will never hear from me again. I’m just taking life day by day and seeing how it goes. And I might even be back from time to time to share some interior/fashion inspo with you guys. But first, I have to start wearing things other than my Barefoot dreams robe and sweater.

Until then, I will leave you with photos of how Everly’s nursery turned out because it didn’t turn out anything like the inspiration post that I shared with you earlier in the year. And if you happen to be an interior lover, you can find some of my work on @apriltomlininteriors instagram or my company website.

I will miss VE so much, but I’m hoping one day my daughter and family will cherish the extra time I will have with them, as much as I will. And I can’t wait to pop back in and update you guys.

  1. Her nursery is gorgeous! I know you’ve worked so hard on VE, but following your heart (Everly, fam, friends) is always the most important! Good luck with everything! Love you, friend!
