April’s Wedding Skincare

Wedding Skincare

(find my shirt on Revolve)

Whew y’all, my wedding is two weeks away. I’m so happy but also to that, I don’t give a shit what’s on the napkins, kind of place. But the good news is that I’ve been really on top of my skincare and learning so much from my go to facial place, Karee Hays. I wanted to share my wedding skin prep routine with you, because it really has changed my skin.

I started going to get facials about 8 months ago and it was then that I started learning about skincare and which products I should spend my money on. Below you can find what I have been using, as well as how to take care of your skin on a budget.

My AM skincare routine

1. Cera ve unscented foaming face wash – (same note as above) I use this for my face wash (purchase here.) I was told not to spend my money on cleanser so I don’t. I wash and re-wash my face every night to make sure the makeup is all gone. I never, ever, ever, ever sleep with makeup on my face. Because you have to give your skin time to regenerate, which is usually while you sleep. If you do nothing else, do this.

2. Karee Hay sheer peptide gel – This peptide gel is a hyaluronic acid that binds with water to hydrate. Think of it as watering your skin. I spray some water on my face right before I use this product and let it sit for at least 30 seconds before I continue to the next product.

3. Elta MD – This is the moisturizer I use in the AM because it has SPF 46 in it. This moisturizer is meant for acne prone skin. I have never had acne but I do have milia so I have to be careful with products and moisturizers that clog my pores.

4. St Tropez face tanning oil. Because I have to stay out of the sun and I don’t want to look pale, I use this product twice and it keeps my face a little more tan.

2. Shave my face – Yep, I do it also. I do this three times a week and use my face wash as the shave gel. Find Kelly’s tutorial here.

2. Karee Hays bright koji pads – The first step in my nighttime routine is Karee Hays are compounded specifically for your skin type. I am more sensitive to retin A, so it is a mixture of retin A and things that will help calm my skin. It also contains skin brightner, which help push back the pigmentation in my skin. I use this every other night and really have to stay out of the sun. If you are reluctant to get on some sort of retinol and/or retin A because of sun exposure keep reading for a solution.

3. Karee Hays sheer peptide gel – (same note as above) This peptide gel is a hyaluronic acid that binds with water to hydrate. Think of it as watering your skin. I spray some water on my face right before I use this product and let it sit for at least 30 seconds before I continue to the next product.

5. Karee Hays daily eye balm – My eyes have been puffy and have had dark circles lately. This eye balm contains vitamin K and arnica, which helps lighten dark circles and heals bruising.

6. Avene Clean-Ac – is an oil free, water based moisturizer that doesn’t clog pores. I have malia on my face and it is a real struggle. So I can’t use anything that clogs my pores. This moisturizer is not to thick but makes my skin feel smooth and not to oily and not to dry.

Skincare on a budget

1.  Shave my face – (same as note above) Yep, I do it also. I do this three times a week and use my face wash as the shave gel. Find Kelly’s tutorial here.

2. While you are in the shower mix a little baking soda in with your face wash and use this mix as an exfoliant.

3. Try and find product with hyaluronic acid and retinol or retin A. These are some of the most important ingredients for your skin.

4. Coconut oil – I use this for everything but I also use it as a moisturizer for my face, feet and hands.

Stay tuned for wedding photos and let me know if you have any skincare questions. Not that I can answer them but who knows maybe I can. 🙂
